Settling in Life

Hey all there,
It is going to be almost a year i have written something here. If i am going to say i dont find time to write things then i am sure that i am making fool of myself. It just shows that i was not able to manage my time because i have started assuming new responsibilities professionally and personally. I think this is enough about me for the moment and i straight away jump to the topic.
When i arrived India from brussels - i heard this word from most of my relatives and friends - "You have settled what else?". After hearing this i said to myself "Come on. What on earth i have done makes them to say like this?". Just one thing - I made some money plus i got promoted. So this forms the core of the topic.
Question is: Does bank balance indicates that you are settled? Does promotion to higher role indicates that you are settled? What does settling in life means in common to all?
Before dwelling deep into these questions just a point.
If you have watched schindlers list movie - you would have already got my point. He never satisfies in adding people to his list - helping them out from the military reign by giving decent jobs to polish people. There is a beautiful dialog which schindlers accountant says at the end of the movie. But at this moment i dont know the dialog by heart but it is something like he becomes close to god as he has served some 6000 odd people by providing them basic needs. The catch here is till that dialog the movie moves like schindler is the person who is interested in making only money and doesnt have heart for others. After this dialog schindler himself realises that he has some how played a significant role in deciding fate of others people and shed his tears of happiness. That was a touching moment for him.
So coming back to the point. How settling in life related to above? It does not appear any where right? Thats the point. Until you dont see this term you will pursue towards next step in life. But once you start feeling the term then you may get stagnate. You will start feeling "why should i do this by risking my current happiness". May be you may start losing the big picture in your life. So the thought process might get changed.
So if you think of these points you can conclude that having bank balance, promotion etc seems to be elements to sustain in life and this settling should in no way hinder your future "risky" plans to grow more.
But the perception of common people is to avoid those "risky" plans and let your boat sail smooth till you live. There is a high possibility that they feed in these thoughts constantly to us which could make you get in their trap and veiling your growth oriented thoughts.
Summary: Never think that you are settled in life just by hearing the words of others. Your conscience tell you whether you settled or not. Go by your conscience and not by words of others. To me - "There is no intermediate state called settled in life till i have met my life time goal".
